📚 Historical Context

In the 9th century BC, during the reign of Jehu as king of Israel, he was actively carrying out a divine mission to eliminate the worship of Baal, following God's judgment on the house of Ahab as prophesied by Elisha. Jehu encountered Jehonadab, the son of Rechab, who led the Rechabites, a group known for their strict devotion to their ancestral traditions and opposition to idolatry, which made him a potential ally. This meeting highlighted the importance of forming alliances based on shared commitment to God's commands in a time of religious and political upheaval.
